Who you are

Unfairness offends you as bad design before it offends you as cruelty. Where someone else feels outrage and shouts, you go quiet and start working out who decides, who was left out, and what happens when the person in charge is wrong. You have an unusual faith that a well written rule can protect a stranger fifty years from now. It generally can.

You carry an argument between your rulers and the argument is the useful part. Uranus wants to throw the whole arrangement out and begin again from first principles. Saturn insists on the boring bits, the definitions, the procedure for changing it later, the wording that makes a promise enforceable. Air lets you hold both without choosing, which is why the things you write outlast the meeting.

Worse, you start legislating the people you love, holding them to terms they never agreed to and treating an ordinary lapse as a breach. Rules exist to protect the vulnerable, not to win an argument at dinner.

Learn the first person. Say what you want plainly, without dressing it as a principle everyone ought to share. What you write will outlive you, and that matters. So will the people at your table, and they need to hear you rather than your reasoning.
