Who you are

People tell you things they have not told their partners. Not because you press, but because you do not flinch, and they can sense that in advance. You have a high tolerance for other people's mess: the relapse, the same mistake for the fourth time, the confession that arrives at eleven at night. You have never once said the words I told you so.
