Who you are

Somebody always ends up staying in your spare room. The friend between flats, the cousin after the divorce, the colleague who could not go home that night. You never make it a favour and you never set a date, and people leave your house steadier than they arrived without being able to say exactly what you did.

You have real stamina for the boring middle of things. Recovery, in your experience, is mostly weeks where nothing visibly improves, and you do not lose interest during those weeks. You are also good at atmosphere: the lamp rather than the overhead light, the meal at a normal hour, the low expectation. It sounds trivial. It is most of the treatment.
