Who you are

You tell people the ending. The relationship is over. The company is failing. The friendship died two years ago and everyone is still sending birthday messages. You say it in a flat, unhurried voice, and you say it early, because you would rather deliver hard news badly than let somebody find it out sideways from a stranger four months later.
