Who you are

Enthusiasm does not move you much. Where other people hear a great idea, you hear a mixture, and you start separating the parts that will hold from the parts that will not before anybody has finished the pitch. You will not call something excellent when it is ninety percent there, and you will not call ninety percent worthless either.

You are unusually calm in rooms full of excitement, and people occasionally read that as coldness. It is closer to respect. You take an idea seriously enough to find out what it actually is before agreeing to carry it, and the people whose plans have survived your questioning tend to come straight back to you with the next one.

• Accurate rather than agreeable. You would rather give somebody a real answer than a comfortable one.
• Proportion. You can tell the difference between a flaw and a fatal flaw, and you say clearly which is which.

Your shadow

Questioning everything wears people out, and eventually they stop bringing you anything unfinished. You can also turn it inward until you are examining your own motives at two in the morning, finding traces of self interest in perfectly ordinary kindness. Not everything needs taking apart.
