Who you are

You do not accept the version of a problem you are handed. Someone says the situation is impossible and your first move is to ask what exactly is impossible about it, and by the third answer the real obstacle has shown itself, and it is usually smaller and more embarrassing than anyone wanted to admit. Then the thing everyone had given up on moves.

You are patient with the long way round. If the direct approach is blocked you will accept a route that takes four times as long, as long as it actually arrives. And you always show your working. When you solve something you explain how, in detail, to whoever will listen, because a trick that only you can do bores you within a week.
