Who you are

You are the one who decides the running order. Which idea goes first in the meeting, who speaks after whom at the funeral, what gets said in the opening line so the rest of it lands. It is real authorship and it leaves no signature. People walk out of something you shaped and remember the evening rather than the shaping, which is exactly the way you wanted it.

You believe your own material is not ready, and you have believed that for years. Meanwhile you can judge everybody else's without hesitating. The gap is not modesty. It is a rule you made early, probably in a house where taking up room had a cost, and it has outlived whatever it was protecting you from. Nobody else is enforcing it now.
