Who you are

You believe the past is physically present in people. You want to know what happened in 1994 before you judge how somebody behaves now. Ask you about a friend and you will not describe their personality, you will describe the two years that made it. This makes you slower to condemn than almost anybody you know, and a great deal harder to fool.

You should notice the mercy in your own method. The thin years in your life were not failures on a permanent record. They were the seasons when the conditions were bad, laid down in order, and you kept going through them, which is what the record actually shows. You extend this reading to everybody except yourself, and that is worth correcting this year.
