Who you are

You have a running list in your head of what everyone will need. The insurance, the spare set of keys, the money set aside for the thing that has not gone wrong yet, the conversation somebody will have to have with your parents eventually. It is not anxiety. You simply cannot enjoy a good stretch while an obvious gap sits there unfilled.

Your ambition is real, and it is nearly always attached to somebody. You want to earn more so the family has room, want the promotion so the team stops being understaffed, want the house because of who will live in it. This makes you work harder than people driven by status, and it makes it very difficult for you to stop.

Your gifts

• Foresight with action behind it. You see what is coming and do something about it months early.
• Reliable. What you said you would do gets done, including the parts nobody would have checked.
• Purposeful ambition. You push hardest when the result lands on somebody other than you.

Your shadow

Left to run, providing becomes the only relationship you know how to have. You measure your worth in what you have covered for people, so you cannot rest, and rest starts to feel like negligence. Your family gets a well funded, permanently absent version of you and eventually says so. Then you are hurt, because everything you did was for them.

Your soul work

The soul work is to be present without providing anything. Sit down with the people you support and bring nothing useful, no fix, no envelope, no plan. Provision is love and it is also easier than being known. They would trade a good deal of the security for your actual company.
