Who you are

You remember. Not only the large events but the ordinary Tuesday, who said what, the exact wording of a promise. Families depend on this without ever acknowledging it. You know where the photographs are, which relative is not speaking to which, why a particular date is difficult. Pisces attaches the feeling to the fact, which is why none of it fades.

You also make something out of what other people left behind. Friendships nobody else maintained, a recipe from a person who died, a habit picked up from someone you no longer speak to. Your life is assembled from pieces that were going to be discarded, and the joins are the part you are proudest of. Nothing you were given ever gets thrown away.
