Who you are

You notice the one detail that is wrong. In the room, in the document, in the sentence somebody just said, and it stays with you for hours after everyone else has moved on. Pisces gives you a receiver that fine. Neptune makes you doubt whether you have any right to mention it, so most of the time you say nothing at all.

With yourself you are exacting. With other people you are strangely easy, forgiving things you would never forgive in your own work and giving second chances you never extend to yourself. Friends find you generous and undemanding. They know nothing about the private standard, or the evenings spent redoing something that was already fine, or how rarely you feel finished.

• Fine discrimination. You see the small wrong thing that everybody else walks straight past.

Your shadow

Silent standards punish everyone, starting with you. Nobody can meet a rule they were never told, so people fail your test without knowing it existed and you withdraw a little each time. Meanwhile the work never gets sent, because it is not ready, and it is never ready. You call this having high standards. It is closer to being frightened of a verdict.

Your work is to finish flawed things and say the hard sentence out loud. Hand over the work with the imperfection still in it, and tell one person plainly what you expect from them. Standards kept private only make you difficult to be near and impossible to satisfy.
