Who you are

You have no particular desire to be the one at the front, and you are extremely good at making that person effective. You see what they are about to miss, you handle the difficult conversation they should not have, you tell them the truth in private. Every capable leader you have worked for knows exactly how much of it was you.

You watch the edges rather than the centre. In a group you notice the person drifting away, the one who has gone quiet, the argument forming at the far end of the table, and you deal with it before it reaches anybody else. Leo gives you authority; you simply use it sideways, without ever needing to raise your voice to do it.
