Who you are

You do not leak feeling slowly. It arrives all at once, announced, and everyone in the room adjusts. This is why nobody close to you is ever confused about where they stand, and why strangers occasionally find you a lot. You would rather be too much than be one of those people whose real opinion has to be guessed at for years.

You are also the friend people call when something has gone wrong at work or a landlord will not answer. Fighting for yourself feels awkward. Fighting for somebody else comes easily, and you will go further than they asked. Cancer is protective before it is anything else, and your version of protection has volume, arrives fast, and does not wait to be invited.

Your job is to aim the force, not to soften it. Ask one more question before you go in. Keep some of that fight for your own life, where you are strangely reluctant to use it, and the people you love will get a friend instead of a weather event.
