Who you are

You will not leave a situation without looking at it plainly first. After a breakup, a job, a friendship that ran out, you go back through the whole thing on your own: what happened, what was mine, what I did. You sit with the full inventory, including the parts that make you look bad, and you do not need anybody there while you do it.

You have an appetite for unfurnished truth. Most people manage an ending by editing it slightly, and you find that unbearable, less out of virtue than because a false version would nag at you for years. Then you close the door. When you close a door it usually stays closed, and people who have been on the other side of that know it.
